What’s the most creative thing you’ve done lately?
We’ve been doing a lot of talking around Skyelab about the extreme creativity of today’s youth. To anyone over 30, the lengths and depths teens and 20somethings will go to make a point, or simply make their outfit for the day, is stunning. For many of our youth-focused clients, recognizing, embracing, and inspiring the creative endeavors of this audience is becoming mandatory to connecting with them.
Our intern is one of these creative young people. She’s a student at FIT who sees the opportunity for creative expression in everything she does. We asked Kristin to hit the streets to check in with others of her generation. The result is a portrait of the creative youth of NYC circa
2007.
From Kristin:
As spring hit New York City, I headed out with my camera to pound the pavement. I was looking for evidence of creativity in the everyday lives of 20somethings. I didn’t have to look far, as I started out in the East Village where creativity oozes out of the cracks in the sidewalk. I asked each individual I stopped, “What’s the most creative thing you’ve done lately?” Few hesitated; it seems creativity is second nature to them. It is a way of life for many, often reflected in their appearance. I got a variety of responses. Some offered different interpretations of the nature of creativity. Some were excited to share a new endeavor or challenge they’re working through. Regardless, creativity is prevalent in the lives of 20somethings in New York, and they aren’t shy about sharing it or showing it off, which is quite inspirational.
Their answers to my question, “What’s the most creative thing you’ve done lately?
